What a beautiful Wednesday to be at VBS!! We were back outside today enjoying the sun, and we had a blast!
Click here to look at today's photos, and click here to watch video highlights from Channel 5½ News and Wonder U.! We also had our class pictures taken today--check 'em out!!
We started our morning off with a BANG! Jesus is the great physician...He can heal us physically, but more importantly He can heal us of our sins. It's so amazing that we blew our lid in a spark to set off an explosion of dust in a can. Click here and see what happened!
It's exciting to see power in science, but far more exciting to know what God can do for each of us! Stay tuned to see what experiment is coming tomorrow.
Liz, our director of the Theater of the Galaxies was interrupted AGAIN by that goofy astronaut, but finally the show went on.
We learned about four friends who were passionate about getting their paralyzed friend to Jesus for healing. They rip their way through a roof to lower him down to Jesus. He not only takes care of the man's physical needs, but his spiritual needs by forgiving his sins. We learned the exciting truth we can also be a friend of Jesus.
"You are the God who performs miracles; You display Your power among the peoples." Psalm 77:14
Disaster Dan and Faith N. Miracles were back today to tell us about IDES' Manna Project in Haiti. Haiti is still the poorest nation in the world, and the people there are in urgent need of a good daily meal. So IDES developed the Manna Project with both food stuffs and money sent from the US. We learned that for as little as 25 cents, IDES can feed a family of six one good meal. They also partner with Christian schools in Haiti to provide meals for the students each day.
Today we looked at how creative God is! 4's, 5's and K made the house (complete with a hole in the roof) where friends of the paralyzed man took him to Jesus for healing. 2's and 3's made hearts with magic clay and put their thumb print in to show how
God created each one of us with our own unique print! 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades made "Crazy Comets" that remind us of how many different kinds of creativity God uses. 4th, 5th and 6th grades made a "String of Praise" that says "God is Awesome!"
Wow! Already halfway through and we've learned so much through recreation! Today the 4's thru K's played a "Pass the Ball" game.
We lined up and couldn't move, but had to pass the ball over our heads and use our legs to get it to the end. The point was to help each other like the paralyzed man's friends did.
The 1st thru 6th grades played "Mat Mix-Up". We had a 4 square of chairs set up that 4 runners sat in, and like flag football, we had to put a sock in their back pocket for tag. That runner would have to make it to the mats and back to his chair without getting tagged by the roamers. Basically, a picture of what Jesus told the paralyzed man to do after he was healed--"pick up your mat and go home."
A very fun day--see you back tomorrow, where you might try to walk on water!
Ever wonder what happens in the nursery?? We have 10 babies! We start with our morning breakfast and then it's play time! We have lots of smiles and happy feet when it's time for Mimi. We sing and pat the bible, say bible words and pray. We all have happy hearts of Jesus. Time to move on to snacks and more play time. Some of us take a nap while others anxiously await our mommies to come back.
Chris and Sherry's 1st grade "Amazing Astroids" had an incredible day! We began our day singing praises to our Lord.
Grant found Deuteronomy 32:4 in his bible and, sure enough, it says God is the Rock! In drama we learned that God gave Jesus power to heal the sick and lame. We played band-aid tag and wrote recipes for a good friendship which included being selfless like the paralyzed man's buddies. We had some tasty nachos and cheese and did some cool crafts to finish up a wonderful Wednesday at VBS! Thanks to Toni Arthur and Hannah Horton for helping our class! The Lord provides in every way!
Mr. Webster's 1st grade class is having a BLAST in Cosmic City! Everyday brings new snacks, stories, games, songs and crafts. Today we began our day singing songs to our Lord. We learned more about IDES (our mission) and how they
bring hope, love and food to people in need. We had front row seats in the Theatre of the Galaxies, and in homeroom we did an activity that showed us that God forgives our sins. During recreation, we had MEGA fun as we ZOOMED back and forth during a game reinforcing today's lesson. Our smiles were as big as the sun as we got our class picture taken. Next came snacks...we munched on our "space food" and chatted with friends. Arts and crafts was STELAR as we created our masterpieces. Before we knew it, the day was over! Who knows what awesome adventures will await us tomorrow!
Susan and Michele's 6th graders are large and strong with 18-20 kids each day! We especially enjoy Wonder U. each morning with all the detailed explanations provided by our teacher Michele.
Singing with motions are favorite activities for some, while others enjoyed the duct tape survival bag craft, and still others had the most fun running the rings of Saturn or collecting manna. In our Mission Control room we re-read our day's lesson and discuss God's awesome power in creation, His ability to provide for us, and His miraculous power in saving us from sins. We also talked about the floods in Indiana and how God is in control even in situations that are bad. This is the 6th graders last VBS before becoming helpers and we're enjoying it to the max!
Today we had 217 kids and 111 staff people! The week is half over, but its not too late to invite a friend to learn about Jesus. And we're almost up to 80 fish, with most bringing in FAR more than $5 each! Everyone has been so generous with this project and we're so excited at the hundreds of lives we'll help out!
Be sure to work on your Deeper Space activities again today! The K's won the award of the best use of unusual material, and the 6th grade for the best research in their projects.
Did you find today's Cosmic Clue? Today's words were "HEART", "ALL", WITH", and "MY".
Take a peek at today's photos and watch today's newscast and Wonder U. experiment on the video page. Then sign the guestbook to leave your mark on the VBS website. Tomorrow is the return of the popular CRAZY HAIR DAY. And be watching for details about Friday night's closing program extravaganza! The program starts at 6pm with dinner and fun craziness immediately after. See you tomorrow!!
